Turn the Page

I’ve added a page to this blog, called “My Hip Chronology.”

Don’t let the name fool you: there’s nothing remotely “hip” about it. But chronicling my experience with femoroacetabular impingement, or hip impingement, will at least help me measure how far I’ve come in identifying, treating and recovering from this all-too-common injury, known simply as FAI.  (And I provide a promised recap of my arthroscopic hip surgery.)

But more importantly, it is my hope that by detailing my experience I may in some small way help fellow FAI sufferers, or those who suspect they might be (just as I’ve been helped by those who have had this surgery before me, including those commenting on this blog).

Welcome

Most athletes have experienced a “second wind,” that jolt of energy and strength that allows us, enervated and dispirited, to carry on. But sometimes our bodies cannot recover on their own – we need outside help so we can catch our “third wind.”
